CHEMICAL PILOT PLANT
Chemical Pilot Plant (CPP) was founded by Academician N.N.Vorozhtsov
Jr. in 1962. Now it includes Technological Department, Experimental
Chemical Department (ECD), Autoclave Department (AD), large-scale
laboratory modeling unit, controlling-analytical laboratory, and a
unit of maintenance and servicing of technological equipment The building
of CPP is equipped by autonomous systems of power generation (steam,
high-temperature heat carrier, electro-heating, brine cooling), technical
and deep vacuum, facilities for water and flame neutralization of
organic wastes, as well as small- and medium-sized chemical reactors,
and ancillary equipment for industrial fine organic synthesis. The
building of AD is equipped with the special apparatus to conduct processes
under pressure (up to 400 atm., 500° C) and in flow reactors.
As a whole, the structure of CPP, the personnel and material bases
allow CPP to be flexible in replenishing of equipment schemes, to
build up the representative production lots of organic chemicals,
to work out and test the novel technological processes, develop primary
technological documentation for processes and products.
In the 1960-70s the main direction of CPP activities was the development
of technology and pilot-scale production of chemical products (repellent
DETA, monomers- components of polymer materials for aerospace technical
equipment (aromatic polyamines), nucleic acids components used in
genetic engineering). The tested technology was transferred to the
industrial plants.
Today, the focus of CPP activities is shifted to commercialization
of profitable commodities, which are environmentally friendly and,
as a rule, predominantly based on the results of the Institutes scientific-research
projects. Among them, there is production of compositional products
and materials on the basis of natural renewable raw materials, in
particular, glue compositions for food (labeling glues) and woodworking
industries - on the basis of casein. Immune-stimulator of agricultural
plants NOVOSIL – is produced on the basis of fir (throw wastes); substance
of medical preparation ALLAPININUM - is isolated from aconite roots;
soldering flux, where the basic components are colophony and spirit
production wastes, etc. On the other hand, CPP constantly expands
the range of traditional science intensive products -chemical reagents
for making research, industrial use, and science of materials. . These
are such products as functionalyzed polyfluoroaromatic compounds,
stable nitroxyl radicals of TEMPO- and imidazoline class, antioxidants
of natural products and synthetic materials on the basis of steric
hindered phenols, functional derivatives of crown-ethers. Besides,
CPP supports the scientific-research works of the Institute,
The personnel of CPP are involved into joint projects with foreign
companies, business contracts aimed at conducting applied and technological
research.
